Fourth Grade
Fourth grade is an exciting adventure for sure! In Religion, fourth graders will learn and understand the meaning behind the commandments and the beatitudes. They will also select a Saint and create a power point presentation in the computer lab. This year reading comprehension is a major focus. Through short novels, chapter books, and our basal reader students will be introduced to several genres of literature. These stories will be the vehicle for introducing new vocabulary as well as understanding the process of character and plot analysis. Our newly adopted Step Up to Writing program provides fourth graders with a clear model for successful paragraph writing. In math students will expand their knowledge of numbers with advanced multiplication, division, and fractions. The area of Science is particularly exciting because fourth graders will have a specialized teacher in the Lab. Last, but certainly not least… Social Studies. This year students will focus on California History. We will make Mission models, submerge ourselves in the life and times of a gold miner at Gold Camp, and perform a full length musical production highlighting all we have learned about California! Yee Haw!
