Library
Studies show that students with regular access to a school library have higher test scores, better comprehension, better research skills, and improved cognitive ability.
Grades K-6 attends the school library once a week. The parent volunteer staff for each grade, assists the students in choosing books for class projects or personal reading enjoyment.
Birthday Books: Birthday books are a wonderful way to contribute to the school library and mark your child's special day. Each month, student’s celebrating a birthday will receive an invitation through the Wednesday envelope to pick out and purchase a new book for the library in their honor. With your permission, your child can choose their birthday book from grade level appropriate list kept by the library. Most books average between $13-$18. Once the book is chosen, you will be notified of your child’s choice and the cost for the book. A special bookplate will be placed inside the front cover dedicating the book to your child in honor of their birthday. Your child can then be the first to “check out” their special book before it goes into the library collection. Giving a Birthday Book is a very special legacy for your St. Gregory Student.

Book Fair: St. Gregory School hosts a Scholastic Book Fair twice a year in November and May. The Book Fair provides an opportunity to explore a large selection of books representing the best authors and illustrators in children’s publishing today. Many of the books are available exclusively at Scholastic Book Fairs and cannot be found in stores. In addition to the wide variety of books, there are great gift ideas, including creative artistic activities, educational toys, science activities, reference materials, and even cookbooks. By supporting the St. Gregory Book Fair, your children get great books and our school benefits also. St. Gregory School earns 50% of our Book Fair sales. These proceeds go directly toward funding the School Library. As an added bonus, St. Gregory’s receives many free books for participating in the book fair program. It’s a win-win for everyone!
Donations: Do you have books that your child has outgrown or already read? Your donated books are welcome and appreciated. Please be sure they are in new or 'like new' condition-no ripped pages, scribbles, stains, excessive wear, etc. and drop them off in the library.
